Tag Heuer's Connected is an expensive, incredibly well-built Android Wear smartwatch that runs smoothly and offers long battery life. It's too bad, then, that $1,500 doesn't net you a watch with a truly great screen, or the niceties we've come to expect from other devices. If you're a true watch nerd, you might love the blend of classic Tag style and twenty-first-century convenience. Everyone else can buy a $350 Android Wear device and not feel like they're missing anything.

The Tag Heuer Connected is the first Android Wear watch that puts time-telling front and centre. It's almost as if the smartwatch credentials were an afterthought and Tag was more concerned with unleashing a kick-ass digital timepiece. Yes, Google's OS is there, running the show and providing the same features and updates you'd get with a bunch of much-cheaper alternatives but it's the age-old USP of a watch that dominates the Connected. The build quality is, as you'd expect, first-class and the level of the detail on the digital watch faces is incredible. It's not perfect though. We'd have preferred the display tech to be market-leading and the battery life is no better than many of its rivals. Overall though, especially with the trade in option, Tag Heuer is very much onto a winner. Albeit a winner with a much more limited audience than is usually the case with an Android Wear device.

The TAG Heuer Connected is the most fashionable way of adding smart functions to your wrist. But it'll cost you a hell of a lot for privilege.

Ultimately, I like the Tag Heuer Connected, not because it's a great piece of technology, but because it's a desirable item to wear. A lot of tech companies seem to forget that's an important thing when designing wearables. As much as I like the Tag Heuer Connected, there's still a lot to dislike, the low-resolution screen, Android Wear and missing heart rate sensor in particular.
