While the Fenix 3 is pretty much the ultimate outdoor watch, it's not perfect. As the sealed charging port is located on the underside of the face,we’re a bit worried about corrosion due to constant exposure to sweat. One of our initial complaints was the lack of a built in heart-rate monitor, but shortly before this review was published a new Garmin Elevate wrist-based heart-rate version was announced. As this technology was available long before the Fenix 3’s initial release we can’t help but feel a bit jibbed. That said, the trade off for the infrared heart rate sensor is reduced battery life and a much lighter wallet.

In short, the Fenix 3 is the ultimate fitness watch, and one that comes highly recommended. There’s enough top level data for hardened triathletes and casual fitness fans who enjoy a diverse range of sports will get a kick out of seeing every activity tracked within one superb app. The impressive battery life crowns the Fenix 3 as a top sports watch, and while the smartwatch notifications aren’t the best, they combine with the activity tracking to make a watch you could wear every day.

An excellent watch for hardcore runners. Its minor niggles are offset by its great interface, battery life and software.
